In a simple definition, Biopharmaceutical is described as a drug that is produced by the means of biotechnology. Biopharmaceuticals are therapeutic agents aimed to treat a variety of diseases and disorders/or symptoms in a body. These drugs are not produced from any chemical reactions or a native or synthesized biological source, but are created using living organisms such as yeast, bacteria, and mammalian cells that may have been modified to create the desired component or compound. They are proteins DNA, RNA, nucleic acids used for vivo diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.

The very first biopharmaceutical drug that was introduced and approved for therapeutic use in the field of medicine was the recombinant (artificial) human insulin. This drug was released in the year 1982 for use by diabetics.

Biopharmaceuticals are extremely promising and effective for treating some of the most intractable medical conditions, such as autoimmune and cancer diseases. Biopharmaceuticals are created using certain typical methods, their cost to research, develop, manufacture, and administer is really high. As a result, the drugs are placed at the high price tags.

According to the biotechnology industry, over 400 biopharmaceutical products are treating over 200 diseases in clinical trials, some of which do not even have treatments. Over the past few years, the FDA has approved biopharmaceutical products for a number of reasons and a range of medical conditions. Due to this legitimate rule, the outflows on biopharmaceuticals have increased, rather doubled from a figure of $35 billion to $73 billion. And to this day, this market has continued to flourish and explore in terms of great advancements and scientific achievements.
